So che la stessa festa viene celebrated in some countries of Northern Italy, a kind of Santa Claus who brings gifts in a skirt and fills the stockings, and dall'asinello accompanied by his driver, which is used for small deals let rest for three (carrots for the donkey , Bread for the driver ... who receives the thing reminds me of Santa?).

In my home city of Naples, despite being a source of inspiration for a beautiful song, there are no special celebrations, except perhaps in the neighborhood of S. Lucia.
is why, with these biases in mind, I was very surprised to discover instead is that in Sicily a holy beloved and celebrated almost everywhere. "Prejudices," just that I did connect the cult of Saint Lucia to the Nordic countries .. completely ignoring the fact that, historically, the Santa is originally from Syracuse.
that way, I discovered, these days the whole city takes part in one big celebration, with processions, candles and religious celebrations.
More modestly, we limit ourselves here to Agrigento to prepare some dishes. The tradition is to eat only grain, which means arancine in Sicily: the classic, butter sauce, or even more modern variants (with spinach, mushrooms, salmon ..).
